Dignitas spoil MICHU’s EG debut in FunSpark ULTI Europe Final

The Nordic team looked like a well-oiled machine in this one-sided affair.
Dignitas have advanced to the FunSpark ULTI Europe Final upper semi-finals following a dominant 2-0 win over a new-look Evil Geniuses featuring a debuting Michał "MICHU" Müller. The Scandinavian side, who replaced HEROIC in the tournament at the last minute, looked in control of the series from the get-go, claiming their opponent's pick of Inferno 16-9 before overwhelmingly taking Vertigo 16-4.
Dignitas will now move on to the next round of the upper bracket, in which they will face off against Extra Salt, while Evil Geniuses will fight for tournament survival in the lower bracket versus BIG.

Dignitas got off to a flying start on the CT side of Inferno, cruising to an 8-0 score with no resistance from their opponents. Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov eventually inspired his team to two consecutive rounds, but a Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg AWP ace helped push the Swedish squad further ahead. EG managed to have a spurt of success at the end of the half, with an incredible 4K from Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte on the A site sending Evil Geniuses into the side switch chasing a five-round deficit after a sluggish start.
The opening of the second half saw the two teams lock horns in an exchange of rounds, but neither side could piece together more than two at a time. The back and forth benefitted Dignitas, who had a sizeable score difference to play with, and the team quickly secured the map, with Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli topping the leaderboard with a 1.88-rated performance.
Now on their pick of Vertigo after a strong map one, Dignitas were brimming with confidence. The initial eight rounds had teams at a stalemate before back-to-back impactful rounds from Ludvig "HEAP" Alonso put Dignitas firmly in front. The Terrorist side refused to take their foot off the gas as they powered to an 11-4 halftime lead after rounding out a six-round streak.
The CT pistol went in favour of Dignitas and the rest was history. With an impenetrable defence, the Nordic team rapidly added rounds to their tally as a deflated Evil Geniuses, with the exception of a deadly Owen "oBo" Schlatter, struggled to win their duels across the map, with a 16-4 blowout quickly materialising.
